(This is a spinoff from the thread Marketplace Adventures )
The morning after Eldarion's engagement party the house was unusually quiet. The house was not the same after Eldarion left. Gilraen remembered the heartbreaking sobs of Ailsa, and hoped the girl would be alright. She had never got the chance to tell her brother, but she liked Ailsa and supported his choice of a bride. She had a feeling though, that her mother would not agree. The girl sighed and took a last glance in the mirror after putting on her yellow gardening dress and adding some flowers to her hair. She wanted to look her best for Glorfindel - if he should happen to see her on her early morning walk.
Quick as a squirrel, the 14 year old elf maiden slipped out of the door and ran as fast as she could. After the gloomy tension at home, it felt liberating to run like this, her long brown hair flowing freely in the wind and her brown eyes sparkling with joy. She knew her mother would have a fit if she saw Gilraen behaving like this, but at the moment she just didn't care. She followed her usual route for her morning walk, the one she had told Glorfindel she would follow. She didn't want to risk him standing and waiting for her and not showing up.
After her morning walk she returned to her home - not looking forward to face her parents during breakfast. She expected her mother to be in bad mood after the shock Eldarion had given her yesterday. The meal became just as gloomy as she thought, and she was relieved when her parents brought little Telrunya to the market so she could sneak into the garden.
The beauty of the garden increased her mood, and the girl started humming as she tended to the flowers. Knowing that Eldarion would not be allowed to return, she took extra care of his roses this morning. "Poor brother," she whispered as she kissed the petals of a white rose. "Why can't you be free to marry the one you love? I wish you luck with your new life, brother, even if our mother probably will punish me for saying so...."
While she worked with the flowers, her thoughts were with a certain handsome elf guard. She remembered his handsome features, and blushed by the promises of kisses he had given the day before. Would he come and find her like he had promised?
