Isabella blushed when Haidar spoke of her father's illness, glad that she had not been corrupted by the gambling demon as well. "I wish there was a way to cure my father for his bad habits," she sighed. "I fear more money would only cause him to sink deeper into his illness. Seeing how his illness affects the whole family, I would be ashamed to bring others into the same situation."
The fat man squirmed in Lord Haidar's grip, cold beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Even if Lord Haidar's accusations were based on the young man's anger his words were closer to the truth than the fat man liked to think of. "It is common in times like this for a suitor to pay a price for his bride before marrying," he replied. "The young lady will be better off married to me than staying with her father. She will wear silk gowns and expensive jewelry, and being treated like a princess..."
As long as she is young and beautiful. After that I'll find a way to get rid of her....
He paled when Lord Haidar spoke of having the Queen's ear. "You can't prove anything," he replied coldly. "These are just flamsy accusations..."
He sent Lord Haidar a sour gaze when the man walked away, knowing that it would not be smart to make the Kamalli leader his enemy. And yet he had a feeling he was about to do just that...
When he left the party a while later, three young boys and two little girls snuck after him, following his every footsteps through town. It lead them to a dirty house where loud voices from inside told them that someone were drinking more than what was good for them. The man knocked on the door and went inside. Maurice tried to follow after him, but was stopped by a rather brutish-looking door guard.
"Children have no access here!" he growled. "Get out!"
"B-But..." Maurice protested.
"OUT!" the door guard shouted, grabbed Maurice and threw him away from the door.
Maurice got back onto his feet and brushed his clothes, an angry face expression on his face. He might not have seen much when he peeked inside the room, but he HAD seen something his times with the guards had taught him was illegal in Isparia. He was not sure that he had seen correctly though, so he turned to Paul and Oliver, who had come running to help him when he was kicked out.
"Oliver," he said. "Follow me to the windows and stand on my shoulders to have a peek inside. Something is going on there, and I would like to know what. I bet Lord Haidar wants the same. Paul, you and the girls look out for the door guard or others that might stop us from looking. Whistle if you see anyone."
"Will do, Maurice," the six year old boy lisped, greeting his leader in military style before placing himself and the girls in strategic places where they had full view of anyone entering or leaving the place.
The orphans quickly went into action. Standing on Maurice's shoulders Oliver peeked through the dirty window. He saw tables inside the room, where people sat and gambled for money. Women in exposing clothes and with heavy makeup smiled inviting to the men, and some of the men gave money to the women and disappeared into the side room with them for a while. By the bar he saw the fat man receiving a mysterious package from the bar keeper.
"It kinda remind me of Paris," the 7 year old reported to his leader. "Drinking, gambling for money, ladies who takes paid to go with men, and Fatty received a mysterious package from the bar keeper."
Maurice's eyes sparkled in triumph. "I knew it!" he exclaimed. "The gambling and prostitution in itself are illegal in Isparia, I have spent enough time with the guards to know that - but the package is VERY interesting. You don't normally receive packages in bars. I think he is a smugglar or something..."
Oliver climbed down from Maurice's shoulders. Fatty had been engaged in a conversation with one of the women, and nothing more interesting would happen for a while in there. They had time to think of what to do next. The children gathered in a circle and tried to come up with an idea.
"We need to get inside the pub and find out what's inside that package," Maurice decided. "But how? That door guard will not let any of us inside the bar - we are too young."
Charlotte looked around and her tiny face lit up in a beaming smile when she spotted an Elven guard patrolling the street. She recognized this guard. His name was Glorfindel, and she had charmed him with her baby charms already on her first day in Isparia. Now they were good friends, and she always gave him a big hug and a baby kiss on the cheek when she met him.
"I know how to find out," she smiled and scampered towards the guard, wrapping her arms around his legs and hugging him tightly as she covered his knee caps with baby kisses. "Uncle Glorfindel!" she squealed with excitement, looking up at him with big, blue eyes under a tuff of golden curls. "I am so happy to see you, Uncle Glorfindel! We need your help...."
(Do you want to play Glorfindel? )

Isabella smiled when Haidar asked if she was willing to put up with Yvette's antics, finding the child a much better roommate than her father would ever be. "She looks like a sweet child," she smiled warmly. "If she doesn't mind sharing her room with me, I am certain we will get along well."
She nodded when he spoke of the next few nights calling him away for duty - being used to her husband working late hours before he died. "I will look after your daughter for you when you are at work," she promised. "Do you wish me to bring you some hot meals when you are on duty? I used to do so for my husband when he worked nightshift, so it will not be a problem for me."
She thought for a while, then looked up at Lord Haidar. "How soon do I start my chores as a teacher, Mylord?" she asked gently. "I have some ideas for what subjects to start with, so I am ready to start when you are. We need to speak to the Queen about where to place the school though. I look forward to meet my new young charges, your daughter included."

Therese remembered the fat man and shuddered. "I didn't like his face," she admitted. "He kinda reminded me of Master - and I bet he is of the bad sort even if he is rich... Did you see the man next to him? He looked scared. I wonder why...."
Glad to be away from the men she enjoyed Marshall's company and the safety of the stables. She doubted Corby would put up with it if anyone threatened her here...
And Marshall will also protect me... she thought happily, her eyes sparkling with joy as she remembered their first kiss.
During the meal, Therese chattered friendly with Marshall while she ate, praising him for his excellent choice of foods. She noticed that he ate very little and tried to tempt him to eat more by telling him which of the dishes she had helped preparing. Some of then were here in front of them. Slowly the food was eaten, and Therese sighed deeply. This was the best night of her life, and she didn't want it to end.
"I should probably go back to the party and look for Charlotte and Daddy," she said reluctantly. "But I don't want to leave you just yet, Marshall... I wish we could stay like this forever..."

Knowing how boring the meetings her father went to were, the child felt a bit better when he assured her he had a way to make his own fun in the meetings. "If you get bored anyway I can have fun with you when you come home," she promised. "We can play and I can show you the new patterns I have drawn for future clothes. I am not sure people here will like them, so I want to show them to you first... Then you can tell me if there are any details I need to change..."
She beamed with joy when Haidar said he looked forward to their time together, hugging him tightly. "I look forward to spending time with you too, Daddy," she said and placed a loving kiss on his cheek. "I love you."
Holding Daddy's hand, Yvette hopped along as they returned to the party area. Her hair swirled around her head as she bounced happily by her father's side. Her tiny face expressed all the happiness of a little girl living in a happy home with a father she loved and adored. The child listened as Haidar spoke to her about Isabella, letting her know he expected her to use her best manners. "Okay, Daddy," she smiled and hugged him again. "Isabella is a pretty name, and she is very pretty. I think I like her already."
Isabella looked up when she heard Lord Haidar's footsteps returning, and her heart skipped a beat by the sight of the handsome Kamalli leader. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with joy over seeing him again, and her cheeks flushed pink. When he called out to her, she stood up from the chair, smiling friendly as she came to greet him and the little redheaded girl by his side.
Yvette smiled and curtsied so deeply she was in danger of toppling over when she was introduced to her future teacher. "How do you do," she said, like Wild had taught her.
Isabella smiled and offered a curtsy in return. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Yvette," she smiled. "I am certain you and I will get along well."
Yvette smiled and looked up at her father. "I like her, Daddy," she announced, her green eyes sparkling with joy. "Can we keep her, please?"

Wild watched her husband's face with a loving gaze as he opened his grey eyes, admiring his handsome features as she gently caressed his hair and skin. "I enjoy every moment I can spend with you as well, my darling," she replied and sprinkled his skin with light, tender kisses. She shook her head when he asked if he had been too excited the night before. "I love it when you are excited, my love," she replied. "When you are with me, I want you to be yourself and say and do exactly what you want. I love you just the way you are." A smug smile lit up her face when he said she knew how to get him going. "You know how to get me going too, handsome" she replied. "And I enjoyed everything we did last night just as much as you did."
She watched as he turned over on his back, clearly admiring the view of his strong, chiseled body and his long, fair hair when he stretched. The sight of him alone was enough to turn her on, and she had to restrain herself not to pull him into her embrace again.
This man is mine... she thought happily, her heart filled with pride. I have slept in his arms, and hopefully soon I will give birth to his children...
She laughed happily when Blaz asked if he should draw her a bath, and she wrapped her arms around him and snuggled closer to him. "We could have that long cuddly bath you spoke of yesterday," she smiled and kissed his lips. "Would you like that?"
She though of her plans for the day as he spoke of her first day as the Princess of Isparia. "As you know, Lord Haidar have asked to talk to me about financial matters," she said. "I can't picture a man like him having financial problems, so when he sends such a request it must be urgent. I think I will speak to him when we are dressed after our morning bath. I also have tea with Ardis and your mother today, and I will check on the children to see if they are alright. But except from that, I am free to do as my beloved husband pleases."
Reaching out her hand, she caressed his long hair, enjoying the fragrance of it and the silky feel against her fingers. "And you, my love," she requested gently. "What are your plans on your first day as the King of Mir?"
The fat man squirmed in Lord Haidar's grip, cold beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
