When Evan told the children to gather their things, Therese lit up in a smile and scurried into the cave. She started packing everything she had brought with her to the trip. The sack felt a bit lighter now since they had finished their meal. The girl fastened the sack to her back and went out again.
"I remembered everything," she said. "The only thing we need to do now is to make sure the fire is properly put out so we don't start a forest fire. Will you take care of that, Marshall?"
There was a light blush in her cheeks when she spoke to him, revealing that the feelings he had for her were returned. She beamed when Master Evan said the animals would carry them home. "I am so glad we won't have to walk all the way," she said. "It was pretty far..."
Hearing the wolf's words that she would carry the girl, Therese moved over to the wolf, smiling as she gently climbed up on her back. Perhaps it was a good thing that she was still a bit underweight, so she wouldn't be too heavy for the wolf.
"I am ready," she smiled. "Are you ready, Marshall? We can take off as soon as you are."

They had not been traveling for long before Therese heard a familiar voice in her mind. Therese! Where are you? It's Daddy. We are coming to find you. The child smiled, knowing it was her father's voice and not the enemy.
I'm sorry I haven't come home before, Daddy, she thought back. We got scared by the evil in the Ancient Elf ruins and Corby ran away. But Master Evan and a wolf found us, so we are on our way home now... We're alright.
She held onto the wolf carrying her as they continued their journey. "I hope I am not too heavy for you?" she asked with concern, not wanting to be a burden for her furry friend. Looking over at Marshall, she beamed with joy. "Isn't this fun, Marshall?" she asked. "Now I have tried riding a horse and a wolf on the same day! Charlotte will be thrilled when I tell her!"
Remembering what had happened in the Ancient Elf ruins, she lowered her head as tears of shame burned in her eyes. "If daddy lets me live that long when he learns what I did in the cursed city."

Maurice was standing in front of one of the doors in the hallway of the Queen's house. He had a wild look on his face as the anxious cries of Paul and Charlotte haunted his mind. How could they lock themselves in this way? How would he get them out? He hoped there would be someone here who could help him. His chest was heaving after all his running, and he felt the taste of blood in his mouth.
From the inside of the room he could hear running footsteps, and he was glad that someone was here. When the door opened, he recognized the young girl his friend Eldarion crushed on. He hoped things went well for the young couple, wanting to see his friends happy.
"Paul and Charlotte," he gasped, still exhausted after the quick run. "Saben's house... Locked inside... Need help to get them out, quickly!"
Leaning against the wall, he slowly caught his breath back, trying to repeat the message a bit more understandable.
"I'm Maurice, one of the orphans who got here with Master Evan," he said. "Paul and Charlotte just locked themselves inside Saben's house, and now they can't open the door and get out. They are in panic and don't do as I say. I need to get them out quickly. Are there anyone here that might be able to help me? If not, could someone please send for Princess Wildfeather?"

Wild was glad that Radella shared her wisdom with her, knowing she would need a lot of lessons before she could become a good ruler herself. "I hope I have a good heart, even if I was mischievous when I still stayed with my parents," she said. "I don't think I lack courage, in fact my father used to say I had too much of it, which often put me in dangerous situations. I hope I have learned from my mistakes and that I have become wiser with age though." She listened as Radella spoke of the Kamalli and smiled. "I think you chose your husband well, Mother," she smiled. "And I owe you big thanks for creating Blaz - who grew to become the man I love more than life itself."
he nodded when the Queen spoke of the benefits of marrying a best friend, remembering her advice about listening and trusting each other. "I will do that, Mother," she said, kissing the Queen's cheek. "And I know Blaz will too. I can't picture Blaz fighting me though - he is so sweet and gentle. And I for my part can't bring myself to hurt him - he doesn't deserve it."
Wild giggled as Ardis spoke of how their men would react to the bet - she could already picture how they would accept the challenge and how they both would work HARD to make the other part lose. "They are so cute when they panic," she laughed. "But you're right. My Blaz is not a quitter either, so it will be fun to see how this bet goes." Tilting her head she grinned as Ardis suggested a dinner bet instead. "I have a suspicion that I will not be able to walk tomorrow morning, so I can settle for dinner. The losers make dinner for the winners."
Hand in hand with Ardis, she left the Queen's room and returned to the room where Blaz and Oliver were waiting for them with little Niamh. The girl smiled softly as she saw Oliver laying on the back on the carpet with the baby on top of him. The baby was fast asleep, and Oliver looked at the little one with a soft face expression as he sung a song in his native tongue as a lullaby for the little one.
Wild snuck into the room while Oliver sung, and snuggled into Blaz's arms to rest against his chest when she listened to the song with tears in her eyes. When Oliver was finished, Wild smiled to him. "That was beautiful Oliver," she whispered. "I think Niamh will sleep well now."
Turning to Blaz, she kissed him softly to show him how much she had missed him, and then whispered in his ears to not wake up little Niamh. "Ardis and I have a challenge for you and Evan on our wedding night - a competition. Do you think you and Evan will join? We decided that the couple getting out of bed first on the morning after the wedding will lose the challenge. The losers have to make dinner for the winners. What do you think of a bet like that?"
