Isabella smiled as Haidar laid beside her. She could not believe how lucky she was - to be loved by a strong and noble Lord like him, and handsome too! She smiled shyly up at him as he looked at her, reaching out a hand to caress his hair. This situation was new to both of them, and she wished to give him time to adjust to the new situation. She was glad to see how interested he was in the school, and she knew that he would be the best protector the school could have wished for. Since he was the investor and she the only teacher, she knew it would be a good chance for them to work together and get to know each other better also outside their home.
She blushed and smiled when Haidar expressed his happiness for her giving heart, and gave his arm a gentle squeeze. "I could never refuse a child who wants to learn how to read and write," she said softly. "Not when it was my only joy in my own childhood. It will be their ticket away from a life in misery - a chance to build up better lives in the future."
Her face lit up in a smile when Lord Haidar agreed to give the needed funds, and she hugged him tightly. "You are the best man I could have asked for," she beamed, placing a soft kiss on his lips. "I wonder if the healer can be persuaded into teaching medicine to some of the students? And I am certain that some of the wealthy families would be interested in contributing to the school so you wouldn't have to be the only investor. Oliver mentioned that Lord Elrond might be interested. Perhaps you could speak with him?
I hope the Queen will be pleased with the School too. I wonder if she will agree to be the school's protector. A royal person who speaks on our behalf will improve the reputation of the school and encourage the people to send their young ones to us for education."
The young woman smiled and squeezed Haidar's hand as he pulled her to her feet. "I cannot wait to show you how far we have come," she smiled. "Maurice speaks of painting the building outside and inside to protect it from harsh weather and rough use, but I wanted to talk to you of it before giving him an answer. To tell the truth I do not know much about the maintaining of buildings, except from the cleaning stuff all women learns from young age."
She smiled when Haidar spoke of asking the Queen for an audience as soon as Isabella was ready. "I am ready when you want to," she said softly and placed a kiss on his cheek. "I have only waited for the Queen to have time for us. I know she is probably a very busy woman - having to look after all of her people."
The smile on her face grew larger when Haidar kissed her cheek and suggested drawing a bath together. "I wouldn't mind bathing with you, my love," she said softly. "I could wash your back on the places you can't reach yourself, and perhaps you could help me with my hair?"
