Wild hugged Ardis tightly, the thought of being separated from her sister being unbearable. "I know," she replied when Ardis said it would not be the same without her. "Going to Mir without you won't be the same either. But I keep telling myself that we can bring our families there for a huge party when peace is restored." She stroked her sister's hair gently when she spoke of the orphans. "I know they will be safe with you as their guarding angel," she smiled. "Maurice and Therese has promised to help you if the little ones cause too much mischief. I will miss you all to bits and pieces when I'm gone, so prepare for lots of hugs and kisses when I see you all again. And sister - I know the children want little Niamh to have a part of the treasure we brought from Paris too - make certain you get her share so you two won't miss any material goods when we are gone, okay? I would hate to come home and learn that my sister and my niece has perished in my absence. I left it in Haidar's care, and he promised that all the children from the orphanage would have their share - including Niamh."
She smiled as she mentioned Evan's stubbornness, picturing piles of dead orcs piling up in Evan's footsteps after attempting to stop him from returning to his family. "A puny army of orcs won't stop him from returning to his wife and daughter," she smiled, proud of her brother's loyalty to his wife and little daughter. "Can you imagine the piles of orcs that have tried and Morg's curses when he has to shovel them away from his front yard with a snow shovel or a rake of muck to get outside? No - Evan will return to you and Niamh -and so will Blaz and I. I want to see you all again, to give Niamh raspberries on that cute little belly and hear her screams of laughter, and spoil her rotten with icecream and cake when you aren't looking... I have already promised her that she and I will raid the cookie jars in your kitchen when I come back..."
She listened when Ardis spoke of going to Mir and save her people. "I will, my sister," she promised and gave the human girl a loving hug. "And I will give Morg an extra rap over the skanks with my sword on your behalf. I know you would have helped me giving him a severe beating if you could, so I will deliver some blows for you as well."
She took a moment to cuddle with little Niamh too as she spoke with Ardis, hugging and kissing the little baby lovingly. "Bye for now Niamh," she said softly, giving the baby a last loving raspberry on her little belly. "You will look after Mommy for us when we are gone, won't you? Make sure you brighten her days with your lovely smiles so she won't have to be sad. And give her lots and lots of hugs and kisses. You can do that for auntie, right? When I come home I will bring you a HUGE present."
Allowing Evan a moment alone with his family before leaving, Wild turned to Queen Radella and wrapped her arms around her, the same loving way a daughter would embrace her mother. "I feel bad for leaving you here alone," she said as she hugged her tightly and kissed both her cheeks. "I love you like my own parents you know, and it hurts to leave you behind... I have asked Simon and the other children to look after you and they have promised to come and see you when you are in need of company. You only need to ask, and they will be there for you. If you miss us when we are gone, you can reach us the same way you did when Ardis and I were in Taret. I promise to send reports regularly, just like I did then. And I will look after both Blaz and Evan and do what I can to protect them and keep them safe - well, as safe as I can under such circumstances..."
Through the corner of her eye she saw Evan breaking the kiss with Ardis, and she knew it was time to leave. She turned her face towards her husband Blaz, her eyes filled with tears from the goodbyes. "It is time," she said, trying to keep her spirits up even if she felt sad inside. "Are you ready?"

It had been a difficult day in Saben's hut. Charlotte was crying and making several attempts to escape so she could go to Wild. Therese had tried to hold her back to no use, and in the end she was so exhausted by her sister's endless energy outbursts that she had to ask Daddy for help. Hearing Charlotte's heartbreaking sobs was painful, but Therese knew that the child would be in grave danger should she attempt to follow Wild on her mission. Luckily Daddy was able to calm the little girl - even if Therese suspected he was exhausted afterwards.
Charlotte beamed with joy when Saben suggested she could make Wild a picture of the two of them. "I would love to," she said. "I can start making it at once, and then we can give it to her before she leaves so she won't forget me..."
Therese smiled at Charlotte's sneaky attempt to see Wild one more time, and another one, and another one, before the elf princess left. She knew that Daddy was too smart to fall for it. Hearing Daddy's footsteps behind her, she knew he was coming to check on her, to see that she was alright. She felt his hand on her shoulder as he informed her that he would take Charlotte for a short flight. "Thank you, Daddy," she smiled and hugged him. "It was painful to hear her cry. I rather hear her laugh if I can choose."
Trying to keep a cheerful face for Charlotte's sake she spoke a little louder, so her little sister could hear her next words. "Have fun on your flight, Daddy and Charlotte," she said. "Lightfoot and I are going to make fruit salad for supper, along with freshly baked bread and omelette. Be sure to return before Lightfoot eats all the apples..."
Charlotte's eyes widened when she heard her sister speaking of the fluffy little rabbit that was her animal guide and she gave Daddy Saben a wink. "Is Lightfoot coming to visit?" she asked. "Oh, can I play with him after supper? Please?"
Therese chuckled with laughter, glad that her sister had stopped crying. "You have to ask Daddy for permission," she replied and came out of the kitchen to give Charlotte and Daddy hugs and kisses on their way out. "If Daddy says yes, I am sure that Lightfoot would love to play with you..."
