It was incredibly hot in the air as the caravan slowly made its way towards the market place. The smell of spices and herbs were strong and different - the heat of the sun unbearable. The place was crowded with people of all shapes and color, poor men and women as well as rich and wealthy. Shouts from the salesmen could be heard everywhere, each of them claiming their goods were the best. The sound of people talking or shouting to each other, different languages mixing and adding to the confusion belonging to a big city like this.
In the midst of the caravan was a closed cage covered in a veil. Inside the cage could be seen a dark figure - slender and pale. It kept itself in the shadows, away from the scorching sun. The men surrounding the cage carried it with fear in their eyes. The veil over the cage was not there for the protection of the shape inside - but for their sake. The creature they had captured had not said anything, at least not yet - and so far it had not done anything either. But there was something about it that made the men fear it - and they could not wait to bring their load to the market and finish their mission. They had been told to deliver this cage to a wealthy gentleman at the marketplace. What he needed it for they did not know. They were strangers here, as was the creature inside the cage.
Finally the orders to stop was shouted by their commander. The men placed the cage in the shadows from the market and straightened their tired backs with sighs of relief. Their journey was done, and now they could soon go to an inn and get themselves something to drink. But first they had to wait for the wealthy gentleman who had wanted this cage.
"What is the name of the gentleman who is supposed to meet us here?" one of the men asked the commander.
The commander lifted a note from his pocket and slowly spelled his way through it. "A certain Tywin Lannister," he replied. "I don't know the man in person, but he was supposed to meet us here in the marketplace. Once we have received the payment for our delivery we will all get something to drink and you'll get the night off. Tomorrow we will return back home."
The men laughed, knowing what they all would do once they were dismissed. They would get something to drink, a nice meal - and then the whores would get a really busy night serving their customers. This clearly seemed to be the right place to land even if their journey had been long and tiresome. And perhaps the whores also could make them forget the fears that had been following them from the beginning of the journey...
Still no sound from the cage. The creature inside was quiet, staying out of the sun. None of the men had dared looking inside to see to the creature, or to ask it if there was anything it needed. They did not ask now. They wanted to end this mission and get away from here - alive.
