Wild smiled when Ardis spoke of the work that needed to be done. "You know the work that needs to get done better than I do," she said gently, laughing as Charlotte playfully stuck out her tongue to her when Ardis promised she too could work. "So I'll let you in charge of sorting out the work tasks and decide who gets to work with what. We others will do any chore you decide for us. I am certain the boys will follow your orders as well."
(Wild doesn't know Haidar has called the boys to the training grounds after breakfast - which reminds me: We still need a healer for Maurice's foot.)
The girls listened in disbelief when they heard of the farmers being afraid of all magic and magical beings. The skin changers they could understand, as they didn't sound very nice - but the Kamalli? The girls shook their heads, wrapping their arms around Ardis and hugged her tightly to show their sympathy. "We will never curse Kamalli, elves or magical beings," they said. "You have been nothing but kind to us ever since we met, and we wuvv you and count you as part of our family. We will always be your friends."
"That goes for me too," Wild added, giving Ardis a big hug. "I can't thank you enough for all you have done for the children - and for me."
The elf girl was glad Blaz was not disappointed by her lack of knowledge. "I was only five years old when I left my Kingdom, or rather what was left of it," she explained. "But I look forward to have lessons with you. I think we can have lots of fun together, and it's a great chance for us to get to know each other better, don't you think? Since I have never had any school before, I leave to you to decide what I will learn and how."
Charlotte was glad Evan wasn't angry with her for embarrassing him. She hugged him back and looked up at him the same adoring way a faithful dog will look up on a very much beloved Master. She snuggled close to him as he placed her on his lap, looking curiously at her plate as the servant placed it before her. Wild, watching the child from her own seat, saw the expression on her face and responded in a calm and quiet way.
"Yes, Charlotte, I am absolutely certain that the bread is made of free range wheat..."
Charlotte beamed happily and threw herself over her food, munching happily. Wild grinned and turned to the other adults by the table.
"She loves all living things so much that she refuses to eat if she believes the food has suffered in captivity before she got it... She doesn't eat meat if anyone tells her what kind of dish she is eating, because she is afraid to eat any of her animal friends. I just want to let you know in case you are alone with her during a meal some day... If she asks you what you will have for dinner, it will save you a lot of trouble if you just refer to it as Food."
The orphans munched happily on their food, making happy remarks on how delicious it tasted and bragged about the excellent cook. Little Charlotte beamed to Evan during the meal, showing him the broach the Queen had given her. "Isn't it beautiful, Evan? The Queen gave it to me. Isn't she nice? I wuvv her..." Turning in Radella's general direction, the child blew a kiss towards her to show her eternal love and gratitude.
Little Simon was still sitting on Queen Radella's lap, and beamed towards her as he made cuddling sounds. A female servant had melted for the child and brought a bottle with warm milk for him, placing it before the Queen. "Do you want to feed him yourself, Your Majesty, or should I?" she asked humbly. "The milk in the bottle is breast milk. My sister gave birth to a baby boy last week, and has offered to share her milk with this baby if your Majesty requests it. As your Majesty knows, my sister works in the kitchen while her husband is one of Lord Haidar's men."
Wild held Blaz hand in hers under the table, touched that he was so protective with her. You know these lands better than I do, my Prince, she answered. Let me tell you what Dreamy is capable of, then you will know how grave the danger can be, and how to reduce a potential disaster... Taking a deep breath, she gathered her thoughts for a moment, taking great care to not forgetting any detail of Dreamy's character. She is a girl who lives on her good looks, she thought. But she is also a coward and a weak soul, and will lie her way out of any situation if she feels threatened or if she can gain something by the lie. If she is in a pressed situation, she will not hesitate to sell out her own family or her best friends to save her own hide. Three weeks ago, she sold her own sister Therese to Master for a bowl of food, and poor little Therese was locked inside Master's bedroom and brutally raped. I was chained to the floor in the dungeon in the cellar when it happened, and could not help the child. Master took my lockpicks away when I was locked up, and only with the coin Master Evan gave me did I manage to get us both out of captivity. When Dreamy could do something like this to her own sister - what disaster can she cause here? I am new to this country and does not know the dangers here like you do, so I don't know what she can get herself into...
Looking up at Blaz she caressed his hand gently. Now you know the reason for my worry, my dear Prince, she finished. Do I have reasons to be concerned? I do not fear so much for my own sake, but I fear for the orphans, the Kamalli, the elves, and all the people living in this Kingdom...
Wild didn't mind if Radella heard this conversation as well. If there were safety precautions to be made because of Dreamy, she wanted the Queen to know of the girl's weaknesses. Wild would also allow the Queen to read her own mind if she found any of her skills useful in the fight to protect her Kingdom. That was the least she could do in return for all her kindness.

Dreamy looked at the brown-cloaked shape in front of her. If she had been any smarter she would have noticed his tension when she introduced herself, but brain skills had never been among her stronger sides. Luckily for her she was a good liar (at least she thought so herself) and could easily make up a story if the man started asking questions.
"My husband's name is Evan Scofield," she said. "He disappeared from home a couple weeks ago. I am worried about him, so I try to find him. You wouldn't have happened to see him, by the way?"
