Therese was glad Marshall didn't tease her for how she entered the horse, but she was certain Corby was still snickering as he started trotting down the path. "Well," she said with a modest smile. "I was lucky to have help getting up. Your hand was a very good support. Without it I might have fallen over on the other side as you say."
A warm smile lit up her face when Marshall assured her that Corby would never hurt her, and she leaned forward to give the horse a loving kiss between his ears and hugging him tightly. "Yes, I know that Corby would never hurt me. He is the best horse in the whole world, and the next time I see him, I will give him a nice, juicy apple."
Her big, brown orbs sparkled with excitement as Corby carried her and Marshall away, and she squealed with joy when he picked up speed. One of her hands clutched the reins, the other hand anxiously sought after Marshall's as the horse went faster. She had never been as far as to the eastern gate, and she wondered what she would see on their adventure. The sight of the guard made a somewhat anxious expression appear in her face. Would he try to stop them, telling them that children were not allowed to go here? But the guard only waved them on, and she dared to offer him a trembling smile as they rode through the gate, her hand still clutching Marshall's. She had a feeling she would never completely get over her fear of men.
The sight of the forest was breathtaking, and Therese took in the sight with sparkling eyes as she leaned against Marshall. A big smile slowly lit up her face and she listened eagerly as Marshall spoke of the things they could see here. "Ancient elven ruins?" she asked eagerly when Marshall spoke. "Oh, Marshall, we must see them. I would love to show them to Wild! I bet she hasn't seen them yet."

Paul nodded in agreement when Eldarion spoke about his father doing his duty well. "He seems like a strong fighter," he said as he kept an eye on Lord Elrond as he moved about on the training field. "Fast and accurate, and with the courage and strength of a lion. I don't think I've had the honor to meet your mother though. Is she here today, with your sisters? I remember you mentioned them when we started talking to each other." The boy lit up in a big smile when Eldarion spoke of the two of them serving together in the royal guard. "I would be honored to serve with you, my friend," he said. "I hope Prince Blaz will let us serve him and the rest of the royal family. He has done so much for me and the other orphans so this would be my way to thank him. Queen Radella has also been kind to us from we came here, and without Wild's protection in the orphanage we might not have survived. So you see I have a personal interest in protecting them."
He listened as Eldarion spoke of the elven healers and how some of them saw themselves higher than those without healing abilities. "You won't see Maurice looking down on anyone," he assured his elven friend. "He is as humble as they come, never forgetting that he spent most of his life in the slum area of Paris. But he is very smart and clever, so Lady Eileen says she wants to take him in as a student. I think she and Lord Haidar will make an arrangement so Maurice can combine his warrior training with his studies at the healer's hut."
Maurice liked young Eldarion immediately as the two were introduced to each other. He was certain that the elf boy could teach him a lot about the fascinating people who had taken in him and the other orphans and given them a home when nobody else wanted them. "I have only learned a few words of Elven language, or I would have greeted you more properly," he smiled. "The only words I can say in Elvish are Mae govannen Wild taught us some of her language at the orphanage, but I don't know if all the elves speak like they do in her childhood's Mir. If you teach me more of your language and your culture, I could perhaps teach you more of mine."
The two human boys listened as Eldarion spoke of the elves, glad that Lord Elrond had taught his children respect for humans. Paul had told the other boys about Figwit, so they knew that not elves were nice and sympathetic like Eldarion. "I don't think all elves are flawed and cruel to others," Maurice said as Eldarion spoke of his people. "You and your father seem like the good sort. And Wild is the good sort too, risking her own safety to protect small children, in spite that the Master of the orphanage was at least three times her size." Paul smiled when Eldarion spoke of Prince Blaz and Queen Radella. "God bless them both," he expressed. "I love them and I will do anything I can to protect them from harm."
The boys lit up in big smiles as Eldarion spoke of ancient ruins to the east, a stronghold for the elven people. "That would be fun to see..." they started, but were interrupted by the healer. Paul looked up at her with big, round eyes when she spoke of the land as forbidden. "Why is it forbidden, Lady Eileen?" he asked, crawling up in her lap and nuzzling against her like a puppy seeking his mother. He had already discovered the healer's softness for children, and used it to his advantage if he could get her to tell him an exciting story.
Maurice smiled as Eldarion spoke of the group of children, proud of his little friends. "We wouldn't be able to escape without Master Evan to save us," he said. "Wild tried to find an escape for us many times, but they always caught her and punished her. She was lucky to survive. Other kids in our orphanage was not as lucky..." He paused for a moment, remembering with tears in his eyes the children who had perished from the continued abuse in the orphanage. Then he took a deep trembling breath and continued, not wanting to show himself weak for his new friend. "But all our experiences tied us together, and we have formed a lifelong friendship, and we can even say family bonds. We are very lucky to have each other." Paul smiled up at Eldarion from the healer's lap. "And now you are a part of our family too, Eldarion," he lisped. "Welcome!"
With a smile Maurice looked around, to see if he could see more of the little group of orphans. His face lit up in a smile when a pint-sized four year old girl with golden curls bounced into the room and bumped into Eldarion because she didn't look before she leaped. "Ah, just in time," he laughed. "Eldarion, the little Summer Breeze you just bumped into, is our Charlotte. She is four years old, and Captain Saben has adopted her as his daughter. She is also one of the newest Kamalli." Charlotte leaned backwards to look up at Eldarion with big blue eyes under a tuff of golden curls. A huge smile slowly lit up her face, and she gave him a deep curtsy, so deep that she almost toppled over. "I am Charlotte," the little girl lisped as she looked up at him with starry eyes. "And you are pretty!"
Yvette beamed with joy when Haidar told her that she had captured his heart. "You have captured my heart too, Daddy," she beamed and kissed his cheek in a daughterly manner. "I have never met a man as kind as you before. I am glad that you are my Daddy." She smiled when Haidar assured her that nobody got hurt during the brawl with Lord Lindir and Lord Glendor. "I am glad nobody got hurt, Daddy," she smiled. "I am so happy that Wild and Blaz are getting married. I had a suspicion this would happen ever since I saw them kissing in the training field. I think you knew too, you smiled when I told you of the kiss, remember?"
Lady Eileen smiled and nodded when Haidar spoke of Radella appreciating her help with the wedding preparations. "I will be more than happy to help in any way I can," she replied softly. "I will visit the Queen in a few moments, but first I want to check that my little patient is alright." With a smile on her face she leaned over little Yvette, allowing her healing hands to glide across the child's head a few times to remove any remaining pain as she checked on the wound. "No sign of concussion," she smiled. "No signs of broken bones either. Your daughter is free to come home with you when you wish."

Closing her eyes, Wild enjoyed the feel of Blaz's lips against her own, deepening the kiss as he held her in his arms. She pressed her body against his, no longer bothering to keep her love for him hidden. The sound of his voice tickled her skin, and she smiled as she rested her head against his chest, taking in his scent and savoring it, wanting to remember it for moments where he could not be with her. "I love you so deeply that every moment without you will cause me pain," she said softly. "I will wilter away like a flower without water, only yearing to be with my beloved again. In those moments the memories of your touch and your kisses will be all I have to live on."
As they walked back to the Queen's house she wrapped her arm around Blaz's waist as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. It felt nice to walk side by side with her beloved like this, no longer needing to hide their feelings for each other. She could see the smiles of the guards and a shy smile appeared on her own face - a hesitating attempt to break the ice between her and the people of her beloved prince. She remembered how Lord Lindir and Lord Glendor had reacted to the news of Blaz and her getting married. Would these guards react the same way? Being a bit nervous in social situations she snuggled a bit closer to Blaz for support, just in case.
As the young couple reached the Queen's study, Wild grinned when she heard rapid chatter inside the room. She could recognize Oliver's British accent among dozens of other voices. Noticing Blaz's curious look she leaned towards him and whispered in his ear. "I did not wish to leave your mother alone with the Royal Council, so I told Oliver to stay near her and protect her at all costs," she whispered. "He may look small, but you won't find a trickster more sly if you search all of Isparia. And since all my orphans love your mother for her kindness, they will stop at nothing to protect her."
As she peeked inside the room, she lit up in a big smile as she saw the furniture pushed aside, and the Queen and Oliver dancing around in the room. "This looks fun," the Mirion princess commented, her eyes filled with mirth as she entered the room. Oliver lit up in a big smile without stopping the dance. "I am teaching the Queen the dances we used to dance in my cousin's wedding!" the boy exclaimed with glee. "And she dances them pretty well too! Come and join us!"
Wild laughed and looked up at Blaz, her eyes sparkling. "It would be fun trying," she smiled. "Do you want to try, my love?" She held out her hands towards him, allowing him to lead the dance if he wanted to.
